Pabbly Connect Lifetime Deal: Six Years In, and What It Costs Now

In mid-2020 I bought a private Pabbly Connect lifetime deal for $790. It wasn’t sold on AppSumo, and I stacked the maximum number of codes it allowed. That deal isn’t available any more. Six years later I still use it, and my account still shows 185,000 tasks a month. That number is the most useful thing in this review, because the lifetime plan Pabbly sells today for about the same money comes with 10,000.

What I actually use it for

Almost all of my workflows are webhook relays. Something sends a webhook to Pabbly Connect, and Pabbly forwards the data to where it needs to go:

  • Discord: messages posted to a channel.
  • Meta’s Conversions API: server-side events for ads, sent from Pabbly rather than the browser.
  • Google Sheets: new rows, so the data ends up somewhere I can filter and share.
  • Telegram: messages sent through a bot.

This is where Pabbly’s task counting matters. A task is only counted for an action step. The webhook trigger and internal steps such as filters, routers and formatters are free. On Zapier, every step and connector call uses tasks. For simple relays that fire often, that difference adds up quickly.

How much of it I actually use

Very little. In the current billing month the dashboard shows 1,325 tasks consumed out of 185,000, well under 1% of the allowance. It also shows 1,953 free tasks: triggers and internal steps that Pabbly doesn’t count. Here, more of my workflow steps ran for free than were counted, which shows how much the counting rules matter.

What the same deal costs today

Pabbly still sells a one-time plan, but on very different terms from 2020. On the lifetime offer page today:

  • Standard: $349 one-time, 3,000 tasks a month, 10 workflows, two-step workflows only.
  • Ultimate: $799 one-time, 10,000 tasks a month, unlimited multi-step workflows.
  • Ultimate Plus: $1,298 one-time, 20,000 tasks a month.

So the price I paid now buys about 5% of the task allowance I got. That isn’t a complaint about the old deal. It’s the pattern with lifetime deals in general: the early ones are the generous ones, and the vendor tightens the terms once the product is established.

Is the lifetime plan still worth it?

Compare it with Pabbly’s own subscription first, not with Zapier. Billed yearly, Pabbly Connect costs $16 a month for 10,000 tasks ($192 a year), $33 a month for 20,000, and $69 a month for its unlimited-tasks plan ($828 a year).

  • At 10,000 tasks, the $799 Ultimate lifetime plan takes a little over four years to pay for itself against Pabbly’s own yearly plan.
  • At 20,000 tasks, the $1,298 Ultimate Plus takes about three and a quarter years ($396 a year on subscription).
  • My $790 in 2020 was about one year of today’s unlimited plan. At today’s prices, the six years since then would have cost roughly $5,000 on subscription.

Against Zapier the gap is much larger. Zapier’s Professional plan, billed yearly, is $129 a month for 10,000 tasks, $189 for 20,000 and $769 for 200,000. Even before you account for Zapier counting more steps as tasks, a lifetime plan pays for itself against Zapier in about six months at 10,000 tasks.

My real usage, about 1,300 counted tasks a month, would fit in today’s Standard lifetime plan ($349, 3,000 tasks), as long as 10 two-step workflows are enough. Otherwise it would fit in the 10,000-task yearly plan at $16 a month. My deal was far bigger than I needed. I still like Pabbly Connect, and for me it was worth the money.

If you are sure you’ll still need an automation tool in four years, and your volume fits one of the tiers, the lifetime plan is a reasonable buy. If you’re not sure, the yearly plan is cheap enough that there’s no reason to lock in. Either way there’s a 30-day money-back guarantee.

The risk with any lifetime deal

A lifetime deal is only worth what the company does with it. Pabbly has honoured mine for six years, and that is the real evidence here. Other tools I bought on lifetime deals did not last: Stencil, SendPilot and Sales.Rocks have all shut down. I keep a running list of the ones I use on the WordPress lifetime deals page.
